I want to take a moment to THANK ALL OF THE MUNICIPAL MAYORS AND COUNCILMEN…for allowing me to sit in on their meetings. I have learned SO MUCH FROM ALL OF YOU, on the various ways we all run our Cities. I have truly enjoyed my time Campaigning and getting to know part of the County Better.

The job of the St Louis County Councilman is no different than the job of our Municipal Councils, just a larger population to serve. Approximately 1,000,000 people “to serve.” That is a lot of people’s lives to affect without asking their opinions or taking them into consideration when they do - give them to you.

My Opponent is not Engaged in his Communities… even Mayors and Councilmen have told me of their concerns that he has either never been to a meeting before or they haven’t seen him since he announced he was their Councilman.

Maybe if my opponent had taken the time to get to know and understand how Municipalities work, and maybe if he had listened to his Constituents when they came to meetings, or at minimum returned a phone call or email when sent…. he could have made better choices….

INSTEAD….
My Opponent voted YES on Stengers Police Bill without investigating the facts of the Municipal Departments. Without listening to the people say NO! we DO NOT like your bill DO NOT pass it. Please see my website at www.amypoelker2.com for the details and facts on this bill. Stengers Police Bill was meant to take away your Police Department and replace it with the County Police. I have spoken to many of you while knocking on doors in the Municipalities, I have not run across any residents who do not like their Police Departments. Though the court has deemed this bill UNCONSTITUTIONAL, my opponent still voted to fight it through the Missouri Supreme Court.
My Opponent also voted YES on the Landlord Bill, which when designed literally made YOU THE PARENT- A LANDLORD WHEN YOUR KIDS MOVED BACK IN WITH YOU, requiring a NEW OCCUPANCY INSPECTION, thus the requirement to UPDATE YOUR HOMES TO 2016 CODES…imagine how much that would cost YOU in your more Senior Years, when you are trying to save for retirement!!! Yet another bill deemed UNCONSTITUTIONAL by the court that my opponent voted to continue to fight at the Supreme Court level.

My opponent also voted for the Senior Tax that we will be voting on in Nov.
I want you to look into this tax thoroughly, as it has no defined method by which the money will be spent. I emailed a representative of the organization sponsoring the tax and she could not find out how it would be spent. Personally I would never put through a tax if I did not know how it would be used.

My opponent has made the decision to cut public speaking time from 3 minutes to 1 minute on more than one occasion after determining there were too many speakers to listen to during Council sessions. Their Charter states you will get 3 minutes to speak. One session when they seemed tired of listening to a gentleman who is deaf, they made the decision to cut him off at the 2 minutes that was allowed during that session. ADA requires the Council to give extra time in these circumstances. My opponent remained silent on this you would think since he is a Dr. that he would have stepped in to defend this seemingly wrong action. 9/13
If you review the meeting from Oct 4 on You Tube you will see me speaking out against their silencing of the people after I discovered a PDF on their website that stated people would get 5 minutes to speak.
The Council held a public meeting on the April Voting Debacle, however again a week before the meeting the Council Announced they would not be hearing public comments during this meeting…One time the Council actually told a man that they are not here to answer his questions but only to allow him to speak. When my residents tried to contact Sam about the Police Bill Sam never returned their emails or calls and for me to get a reply in my 2^nd request I had to threaten to tell 13,000 residents in the City Newsletter that hits every door in St Ann that he would not respond to their Alderman either.

Too often I find that Politicians think it's so important to have some new law that they can tell their constituents that they are responsible for in order to feel like they have accomplished something while they are in office.

My opponent just created a new law (T21) that sounds good on the outside yet if you see through the limelight, literally becomes just another law to JAIL people and FINE them to make more Revenue for the County, on the backs of the residents and businesses. How will the County Prosecutor ever be able to Prosecute a 16-20-year-old as an adult for a crime, when his County Council – spearheaded by My Opponent, just created a law which basically states 18-20-year old’s are not adults and are not old enough to be allowed to make a decision for themselves.

But most importantly we have to ask ourselves...Since those 7 members on the Council represent a million people...instead of presuming they know better, for the people---Shouldn't they have asked their constituents what we want on this matter before bringing it to a Vote of 7? or better yet this one was big enough to at minimum put to a vote of the population. At least through a population vote, we would know that the people wanted this and not just the council.

I believe we need to rebuild and restructure the County’s budget so that wasteful spending is eliminated and the County’s infrastructure and personnel are reinvested in.

You see in my own City of St Ann, I have already seen and been through many of the things that are happening in the County today. The County’s revenue is declining as businesses choose elsewhere to locate like St Charles or Jefferson County.

They may or may not see this coming – But this is what we experienced with the loss of Northwest Plaza, they say History Repeats itself if we are not watching - instead of Thinking Outside the Box to do something about it, they cover it up with Grandiose Spending - Millions of Dollars on a Soccer Field, 3 Million for a Metro Link Study which if built would again take Millions if not Billions of our tax payer dollars. Etc., etc.…

Money is being spent like there is no tomorrow, NO ONE is accounting for the future Maintenance and Repairs of what we have now more or less new things.

How will these items be paid for? What are their plans to maintain and repair the infrastructures? Grants? That is not a solid plan, it’s a plan to take more of our tax dollars because that’s what Grants are, like the Arch tax, currently our Municipalities get grants for parks through the Arch tax. The County seems to pass many Grants…

You do not buy a home or a car without realizing you have to set aside money for the furnace, a/c, water heater/water pump, driveway, exhaust or brakes which will all need replacement or repairs someday…but this is what our County Government is doing, all the while the County Streets are in desperate need of repair, Employees have gone for 8 years, 7 years, 5 years without a raise while other higher level positions are seeing huge increases and positions that are not needed are being created.

So they are losing Employees, in the news on 9/19 Chief Belmar said he was losing officers on the average of one/week. Trust me I worked as a Fast Food General Manager for 23 years…Training is very expensive, MORE expensive than giving the employee the raise they deserve to keep them and let them know their work is appreciated. Government fails to hold itself to the same standards businesses are held to.

I wish to serve the people as their St Louis County Councilman because I believe that those who govern over us, should be listening to us. This is NOT what I or quite a few of my residents have experienced from MY OPPONENT.

Sometimes we are not thinking about politics and need our politicians to push information out to us, I for one did and it wasn’t happening - so while I was not concentrating on the very reasons I moved to St Ann, my mall fell apart and the city around it went into a steady decline.

Today you will see we have turned St Ann towards success again….

Jobs are the answer to St Louis County’s future success, people need to feel independent to have hope, a reason to go to school, Jobs in North County have been neglected for 3 decades by the Council, it’s time to change that, while working on the whole, as well.

He aprendido mucho de todos ustedes, en las diversas formas en que todos corren nuestras ciudades. Realmente he disfrutado mi tiempo hacer campaña y llegar a conocer parte del condado Mejor.

     El trabajo del Condado de San Luis Concejal no es diferente que el trabajo de nuestros consejos municipales, sólo una población más grande para servir. Aproximadamente 1.000.000 de personas "para servir." Eso es un montón de vida de las personas para afectar sin pedir su opinión o tomarlos en consideración cuando lo hacen - les dan a usted.
     Tal vez si mi oponente había tomado el tiempo para llegar a conocer y entender el funcionamiento de los municipios, y tal vez si hubiera escuchado a sus electores cuando llegaron a las reuniones, o como mínimo devuelven una llamada de teléfono o correo electrónico enviado cuando .... que podría haber tomado mejores decisiones ....

Mi oponente votó SÍ a la Stengers Bill Policía sin investigar los hechos de los departamentos municipales. Sin escuchar a la gente decir que no! No nos gusta su factura y no debe dárselo. Quiero que mirar en este impuesto a fondo, ya que no tiene un método definido por la que se gastará el dinero. Me escrito un representante de la organización que patrocina el impuesto y ella no podía averiguar cómo se gastaría. Personalmente nunca pondría a través de un impuesto si no sabía cómo iba a ser utilizado.

Mi oponente ha tomado la decisión de reducir el tiempo de hablar en público de 3 minutos a 1 minuto en más de una ocasión, tras determinar que había demasiados altavoces para escuchar durante las sesiones del Consejo. Su Carta establece obtendrá 3 minutos para hablar. Una sesión cuando parecían cansados de escuchar a un señor que es sordo, se tomó la decisión de cortarle el paso a los 2 minutos que se permitió durante esa sesión. ADA requiere que el Consejo para dar tiempo adicional en estas circunstancias. Mi oponente se pronunció respecto a esto, se piensa ya que él es un doctor que habría intervenido para defender esta acción aparentemente mal. 9/13
El Consejo celebró una sesión pública sobre la debacle de votación abril, sin embargo de nuevo una semana antes de la reunión del Consejo anunció que no estará escuchando los comentarios del público durante esta reunión ... Una vez que el Consejo dijo en realidad un hombre que no están aquí para responder a sus preguntas pero sólo para que pudiera hablar. Cuando mis vecinos trataron de ponerse en contacto con Sam sobre la Policía Bill Sam nunca regresó a sus correos electrónicos o llamadas y para que consiga una respuesta en mi segunda petición que tenía una amenaza para decirle a 13.000 residentes en el Boletín de la ciudad que golpea todas las puertas de Santa Ana que él no responder a su Alderman tampoco.

Con demasiada frecuencia, me parece que los políticos piensan que es tan importante tener alguna nueva ley que le pueden decir a sus electores que ellos son responsables por el fin de sentir que han logrado algo mientras están en la oficina. Recientemente, el gobernador firmó la ley un adicional de 106 nuevas leyes para nuestros policía de aplicar ... sin embargo, no tuvo en las espaldas de estos mismos agentes que deben cumplir estas nuevas leyes en 2014 y hacia adelante ...
¿Por qué no eliminar algunas de las leyes que no se harán cumplir de todos modos ....
Para ver esto 18 vs 21 límite de edad desde el punto de vista de una madre ... entonces estoy seguro de que si el Estado / Condado / ciudades tenían el personal para hacer cumplir efectivamente esta ley, una madre puede apreciarlo.
Este proyecto de ley nos acerca cada vez más a la de las leyes de Nueva York que finalmente condujeron a la muerte prematura de un hombre, simplemente porque él estaba vendiendo cigarrillos individuales, que se habían considerado ilegal hacerlo por otra ley.
Si hemos de decidir que 18 años de edad de no tienen la capacidad de pensar por sí mismos sin embargo, a continuación, hay que convenir que no son adultos y por lo tanto ... La votación debe ser revocado y 21, de las perforaciones edad tatuaje y deben ser movidos a 21, servicio a nuestro gran país no se debe permitir y 21, comprar un arma, casarse, conducir, dueño de una tarjeta de crédito y con toda seguridad los adolescentes no se celebre el juicio como adultos hasta que cumplan 21.
La realidad es que ni el límite de edad de 18 o 21 años se detendrá adolescentes fumen ni vaping y simplemente no hay suficiente mano de obra para hacer cumplir esta nueva ley. Al igual que los problemas reales detrás de SB5 sólo estamos creando más razones a la cárcel o Buena gente y las empresas para crear más ingresos para el Condado. Así que decir que esta ley reducirá el número de nuevos fumadores por la mitad como el Sr. Page indicó en las noticias ... es un alcance en el mejor.
Los que van a fumar cualquier producto que se va a fumar sólo se va a ir en línea o al siguiente condado de comprar sus productos .... y el Condado de San Luis tendrán que buscar a un nuevo impuesto para reemplazar la pérdida de ingresos el impuesto a los cigarrillos preciosa, que por cierto está llegando de nuevo ante el público para aumentar este 8 Nov.
Así que, básicamente Mi oponente acaba de crear una nueva ley (T21) que suena bien en el exterior sin embargo, si usted ve a través del centro de atención, literalmente, se convierte en otra ley para encarcelar a la gente y fino para hacer más ingresos para el Condado, en el dorso de la residentes y negocios. ¿Cómo será el fiscal del condado a ser capaz de procesar a un 16-20 años de edad, como un adulto por un delito, cuando su Consejo del Condado - encabezada por mi oponente, acaba de crear una ley que, básicamente, establece 18-20 años de edad no son de adultos y no son lo suficientemente mayores para ser autorizados a tomar una decisión por sí mismos.
Pero lo más importante que tenemos que preguntarnos ... Desde esos 7 miembros en el Consejo representan un millón de personas ... en lugar de presumir que saben mejor, para el pueblo --- ¿No deberían han pedido a sus constituyentes en lo que queremos este asunto antes de llevarlo a votación del 7? Al igual que Marcos hizo más duro en su alimentación Facebook ... o mejor aún, éste era lo suficientemente grande para, como mínimo, sometida a votación de la población. Al menos a través de un voto de la población, sabríamos que la gente quería esto y no sólo el consejo.

     Creo que necesitamos para reconstruir y reestructurar el presupuesto del Condado de modo que los gastos innecesarios se elimina y la infraestructura y el personal del Condado se reinvierten en.

Se puede ver en mi propia ciudad de Santa Ana, ya he visto y pasado por muchas de las cosas que están sucediendo en el condado de hoy. Los ingresos del Condado está disminuyendo ya que las empresas eligen a otro lugar para ubicar como San Carlos o el condado de Jefferson.
Pueden o no pueden ver el próximo - Pero esto es lo que hemos experimentado con la pérdida de Northwest Plaza, dicen sí mismo la historia se repite, si no está viendo - en lugar de pensar fuera de la caja para hacer algo al respecto, lo cubren con el gasto grandioso - millones de dólares en un campo de fútbol, 3 millones para un estudio de Enlace metro, que si se construye volvería a tomar millones, si no miles de millones de dólares de nuestros contribuyentes. Etcétera etcétera.…
     El dinero se está gastando como si no hubiera mañana, NADIE es la contabilidad para el futuro mantenimiento y reparación de lo que tenemos ahora las cosas más o menos nuevas.
¿Cómo se pagarán estos artículos para? ¿Cuáles son sus planes para mantener y reparar las infraestructuras? ¿Subsidios? Eso no es un plan sólido, que es un plan para tomar más de nuestros impuestos porque eso es lo subvenciones son, al igual que el impuesto Arco, actualmente nuestros municipios reciben subvenciones para parques a través del impuesto de Arco. El Condado parece pasar muchas subvenciones ...
Usted no compra una casa o un coche sin darse cuenta de que tiene que dejar de lado el dinero para el horno, a / c, calentador de agua / bomba de agua, camino de entrada, salida o los frenos, que todos necesitaremos el reemplazo o reparación algún día ... pero esto es lo que nuestro Gobierno del Condado está haciendo, al mismo tiempo que las calles County están en urgente necesidad de reparación, los empleados han ido desde hace 8 años, 7 años, 5 años sin un aumento, mientras que otros puestos de mayor nivel están viendo un enorme aumento y posiciones que no son necesarios están siendo creado.

I wanted to share this information with you, to assist you in finding information on what you or maybe your kid could do beyond school to achieve a NICE PAYING job.
As I understand it, an apprentice will start at a good wage, right out of high school.
When you graduate you graduate with 40-45 College Credit Hours, and apparently, they have a program to help you complete your degree if you choose to go that route. Great benefits and in this particular union, they do a variety of work... HERE is where there is a lot of job growth currently as the Baby Boomers are aging out and it is getting more difficult to find people in these fields.
Lack of laborers affects us all...
Have you tried to get something fixed and were told it would take 2 weeks to get someone to you.
This is why - the industry needs more workers.
Think about it, if you are in need.
These jobs once trained pay extremely well!
